Work updates: I got hired!
Hi there! How are you? I hope you are well!
Ok, here is the story since I relocated to Treviso, Italy until I landed a super nice job at ideato.it!
I want to work with React or React Native
That was the target! All set! Where do I find jobs with React in Italy and how am I supposed to convince them that I am good fit for their needs? The first puzzles emerged!
And you know what? I didn’t have any prior PROFESSIONAL experience with React, only worked on my personal projects! But, guess what happened: I stumbled upon a MeetUp here in Treviso called Scala by the Lagoon! There I met a very good developer and great guy who then introduced me to the guy who eventually interviewed me! Go figure!
It was raining…
The MeetUp took place about 4km from my place and guess what: yep. it started raining endlessly so when I finally reached the place my shoes were all wet and dripping! 🙂
The MeetUp was a very nice experience and I will participate again at first chance! You can read more in previous post.
First contact
We talked with the guy who interviewed me for a cup of coffee just to know each other a lil bit. He then told me about the recruitment process and general stuff about the company. I really liked it!
Second contact
We exchanged messages on WhatsApp and he sent an email where he was explaining that I would have to make a small Frontend app that consumes an API from a HUGE list of APIs there were in the email! I finally decided to go with a movies API and the end result was this:

Outcome
I had to pass from another interview to talk about my app and the code with 3 other guys of the team! In short, they really liked what I did and paid special emphasis on the fact that I am doing a lot of stuff on my own to grow my skills and learn more about my profession! I really liked the interview and all the things they told me about this mentality. Now, I am a part of the team I can see a lot of things happening inside the company that I really love!! One of this is public speaking and workshops and knowledge sharing every moment!! Niceeeee…
The offer
One week or so after this last screening I got a message saying that they decided to offer the job to me! That was one of the best news I have ever heard! In the meantime, I had other interviews going on so I had the luxury to decide between which I liked more! The thing is I thought I have found my ideal work! Benefits for me were the following:
- I did not have to move or relocate or even use means of transportation to go to my work, I work remotely although we will eventually get some office here in Treviso. Apart from this, there is the economic benefit: no expenses to commute
- I love the company’s philosophy about constant learning and public sharing knowledge
- the money is very good and I got a yearly contract (after this we see if we go undetermined time contract)
- the projects are awesome and I got to work with React tech stack
So, I am very happy and finally I started working with ideato on 15th January!
Cheers!
