Photoshop: how to erase text from images

Well, excuse me for this short deviation from the path I chose but I think it is a really good idea to share with you some of my past or current work experiences. It is good for you and ultimately good for me because it is like building a small “reference library” for future use. Like when you build several websites or any other software and suddenly you need to go back and take a look how on earth you solved a problem similar to your current one. So, this is one of this posts where work like this for me, and hopefully anyone who searches over the internet.
Problem definition
Sometimes when you build a website for a client you come to a point where you do not have so many options online for a certain image or an icon or even worse your client sent you a certain photo with some daytime stuff on it or with some text he wrote etc. Even worse: the web designer you work with sent the psd file over with no separate layer for the text! Dear Lord!
Solution one
You use the technique I displayed in the gallery above. You highlight the text you want to remove. You then click on the Spot Healing Brush tool and go on brushing the area with this tool. You let go of the mouse and the miracle is done!
Caveats
Of course, this is no magic stuff. Sometimes when the background is very complex or the area is too big you will need to play around with how much area you need to highlight or do it partially each time. But then the end result is not as good as with smaller and easier cases.
Solution two
This solution is extremely efficient for me. And to be honest I think the results are better. While I am using Photoshop quite a few years now, my main use is limited to cut psd mockups to HTML. This includes cutting photos from there and exporting them as jpg or png, measuring distances between elements, spaces and layouts. Sometimes doing some work like cleaning an image from some useless stuff, scaling, resizing. Selecting things by color, color overlays, blurring, merging images or layers together, Doing all kinds of regular stuff needed to build the HTML, CSS, JS version of the designed website. I know lots of shortcuts etc, no need to bore you anymore. The thing is when I finally told my colleagues about this technique and displayed it publicly in the office, one of them answered my question: “Do you know how to remove text from a picture with Photoshop?”. “Yeah, thats’s easy. You use fill.”. What? I thought I have discovered the Golden City of El Dorado and now this colleague says this is trivial and easy? After this, I invited him over and in a few minutes I saw something even better than I have found out. Lol… The following is the process.
